Kristie's Story

HEY ALL! 

I'm so excited to share this blog post with you!  My hope and prayer is for you to be encouraged and for this practice to make a difference in the lives of many.  I learned of Kristie's story through seeing a picture of the letter U she posted on facebook. Through an interesting series of happenstances I found Kristie and asked her to share her story. So here it is:

"A box of The ABC’s of Happy were given to me as a Christmas gift by a very dear friend. I just loved it. Each time I would pull out a card, I would place it on my bathroom mirror and try to fully embrace the meaning. Sometimes it would take me a day or two, other times it would take much longer as I began to view them as affirmations.

Shockingly, after being diagnosed with a brain tumor, my life, my family’s and my friend’s lives all changed very suddenly. I have always been an incredibly independent person, taking care of two daughters, working in a career that I love from home, and a go, go, go kind of person. My diagnosis happened after having a seizure in my car, causing an accident.

I found myself unable to drive for at least six months, having to have a craniotomy, and needing rides not only for my youngest child to and from school, but rides to doctor appointments, radiation five days a week for six weeks, the grocery store and anywhere else I needed to go. I was worried that I would become a burden to my loved ones.

I was going to have to be completely reliant on others and I was going to have to ask for help. I didn’t want to do it. I was grieving the life I knew before. While recovering from brain surgery, I was pretty out of it, as you can imagine, but one night when I was really struggling with this new way of life, I randomly pulled out of the box the letter U – for Unity.

I honestly felt like God was speaking to me through this card and letting me know that my friends and family were here for me. By embracing this message, I was able to not only ask for the help I needed, but I was overwhelmed by the graciousness and amount of help I received. This is just one of the many examples of what this beautiful box full of messages has imprinted in my heart and my soul."
