Last month, I focused on practicing self-kindness.
During March, I had been feeling overwhelmed, and I began to notice how unkindly I was responding to myself in those moments.
As I moved through April with more intention around self-kindness, something else became very clear — the power of awareness.
Without awareness, I wouldn’t have been able to notice those unkind thought patterns… or how they were quietly working against what I was actually needing, which was to support my nervous system and help it feel safe.

For the month of May, I’m focusing on simply coming back to awareness.
Because before we can shift anything — how we feel, how we respond, how we care for ourselves — we first have to notice what’s actually here.
One of the cards from my ABC’s of Happy Mindfulness cards is N for Notice — and it’s a practice I come back to often.
Noticing the body. Noticing the breath. Noticing the tone of your inner dialogue.
Not to fix or change… just to become aware.
Because awareness, in itself, can begin to shift things.
I’d love to share this card with you as a way to support your own practice — helping you come back to awareness in a simple and grounded way.
Awareness can sound nice as a concept… but it really is a practice — and a willingness to see.
Something I’ve noticed in my own experience is how strong avoidance and distraction can be when something inside needs my attention.
Awareness has shown me that the more I find myself reaching to distract or avoid those quiet, present moments… the more I likely need them.
Lately, it’s been showing me how much my heart needs attention — gently revealing my tendency to numb instead of feel what’s here.
And maybe that’s where it begins — with a simple willingness to notice what’s here. I hope we can practice this together at my upcoming Instagram LIVE Morning Meditation on May 12. See you there! :)
